I have a question about

Before making a booking

What does the Refund guarantee entail?

If your holiday cannot go ahead due to a negative travel advice from the government, we give you the guarantee that you will get your full travel sum back! Of course you can also opt for a holiday to another destination or a voucher. This guarantee applies to bookings throughout the season.

Do I get an option to make a new booking without any conditions attached to it?

This is possible. We are happy to give you an option for up to 5 days (incl. Saturday and Sunday). You may either call us or send us an emai lto inform us if you decide to approve or cancel your option. You can arrange an option for a maximum of one working day within a month before arrival.

What things do we still have to pay for on the spot at the campsite?

You are required to pay tourist tax in all countries. Count on between € 0,50 and € 1,- per person per day. Children are often free or half price (Terme Catez campsite charges an extra fee of € 1.25 to 2.50 per day for children aged 6 and over).

At some campsites in Croatia (A.o. Porto Sole, Vestar, Polari, Krk, Belvedere Trogir, Solaris Beach Resort and Zaton Holiday Resort), you pay a so-called registration fee of +/- € 1 per person (for the duration of your stay, not per day). Service costs may still be charged in the Netherlands. At the following campings in the Netherlands the costs for water and electricity are not included: Roompot beach resort, Hunzedal, Bospark Lunsbergen, Callassande and Kijkduin. These campings are subject to local charges at the time of booking (local charges include tourist tax, gas, light and waste charges).

Some campsites charge an extra fee for the use of various facilities, such as the swimming pool or the parking lot. If applicable, these surcharges are clearly stated on the camping pages in question.

You are also required to pay a deposit of € 100,- in cash, which will be refunded to you if you leave your accommodation in a clean and tidy state on departure. Our staff will provide you with free cleaning products, if desired. You may also have to pay a deposit for using the pool facilities or at the gate entrance to the campsite. If the barbecue has not been cleaned on departure we are obliged to withhold €25,- from the deposit paid by you. If you depart before 7:00 am, the € 100,- deposit you paid on arrival will be refunded to your account once your accommodation has been checked and deemed clean and tidy.

Can we state our preference?

You may also state any preferences you may have. Our staff will do their utmost best to take your preferences into account when planning their campsite schedules. There is no charge for stating your preferences. However, we can never guarantee your preference but we promise to do our best!

If a preference you have given us is not possible, for whatever reason, you will not be informed beforehand.

At Roan, you can book a Next to each other guarantee or a Roan Preferred-pitch at most campsites.

On our website you can see when booking, when adding the extras, whether a Roan Preferred-pitch or a Next to each other guarantee is possible.

For more information we refer you to our travel conditions.

What are the reservation charges at Roan?

The reservation fee is € 27,-.

How can I book?

You can book with us by phone, email or at our website. After going through the booking process you will receive an email from us with the booking confirmation. Once the booking confirmation has been received, your booking is final and the deposit must be paid before the date stated on the booking confirmation.

Can we book a final cleaning?

How nice is it that after a wonderful holiday you don't have to clean your accommodation yourself? At Roan we like to take this care out of your hands, since season 2020 it is possible to book, at almost all campings, a final cleaning! More information about the final cleaning can be found here.

What are the rules for the swimming pool?

In some pools, especially in Italy, a swimming cap must be worn at all times. Sometimes a cap or a bandana is sufficient. Some campsites in France do not permit swimming shorts but require men and boys to wear fitted swimming trunks. Check the water recreation section on our camping pages to see which type of swimwear is allowed. Please note that swimming pools at some campsites are closed at midday (siesta), for example, from 1 pm to 3 pm.

What is the difference between a Prestige Lounge and a Vision Lounge mobile home?

The mobile homes both have 3 bedrooms, air conditioning, a luxury lounge veranda, are suitable for up to 7 people and are 35 m2 in size. The big difference is the layout and appearance of the mobile homes. The Prestige Lounge is equipped with a kitchen at the front of the mobile home and a large sliding door to the decking and in the Vision Lounge, the kitchen is located at the rear and you can walk onto the decking through French doors. In the Vision Lounge there is a separate dining and sitting area, in the Prestige Lounge there is a combi dining/sitting area. The front of the Prestige lounge is also equipped with a modern 'stone-look'.

Can I choose my own pitch on the campsite?

By choosing for our Preferred-pitch you will be assured of the best pitch of your choice. If you book before 1 October you only pay € 50 for your selected pitch on our campsites! Are the facilities at the campsite open at all times?

Especially in off-season, you have to take it in to account that the facilities such as swimming pool, entertainment or restaurant are not open (anymore). Sometimes campsite owners can decide to open certain facilities later or to close them earlier. We try as much as possible to give the correct opening dates but take no responsibility for the eventual inaccuracies.

Is there a surcharge for more than 4 people?

Our basic tariff is based on 4 persons. The following surcharges apply: £ 2 per night for the 5th person, £ 3 per night for the 6th person, and £ 4 per night for the 7th person. At Bijela Uvala, Zelena Laguna, Union Lido, Mediterraneo, Les Sablons, Marina di Venezia and Portofelice campsites, a surcharge of £ 8 per night is charged for the 7th person.

Is barbecuing allowed everywhere?

Almost all our campsites include barbecue facilities. If charcoal is allowed, you will find a free charcoal barbecue at your accommodation. However, if charcoal is not permitted but gas is, we will provide you with a free gas BBQ (including gas cylinder). Some campsites have a central barbecue area and some campsites do not allow barbecues because of drought hazards. If this is the case, you will find a luxury griddle at your accommodation. Our campsite pages include important information about the type and availability of barbecues at your chosen campsite.

What is the difference between a Excellent and a Casa Royal mobile home?

The Casa Royal mobile home is the accommodation offered by our sister organisation, Go4Camp. This accommodation offers you the same service and quality that you always get from Roan. Apart from the colour, there is no difference between these accommodations!

Are pets allowed at Roan?

You can have your pet with you on campsites where pets are allowed. Pets are allowed only in our tents and lodge tents and at the campsite Domaine de la Yole, in the mobile homes Cinsault. In all other mobile homes pets are not allowed. While making your reservation you need to mention if you are going to travel with your pet. The fee is £ 7,- per night.

opposite each other”. In highly exceptional cases, we may not be able to honour our guarantee and in such a case, you are entitled to € 120 return on each accommodation (not available at all campsites). If a Preferred-pitch is possible on an accommodation, it is not possible to book the Next-door-guarantee.

On our website you can see when booking, when adding the extras whether a Preferred-pitch or a guarantee next to each other is possible.

A Preferred-pitch can be booked until 1 March 2020.

What is the difference between a Verde and a Casa Adria mobile home?

The Casa Adria mobile home is the accommodation offered by our sister organisation, Go4Camp. This accommodation offers you the same service and quality that you always get from Roan. Apart from the colour, there is no difference between these accommodations! (The Mobile home Casa Adria is extra equipped with a microwave.)

Tourist tax

You are required to pay tourist tax on arrival. This can be done at the reception area or with one of our representatives. In some cases, small children are free. Some campsites may require you to hand over your passport at the main reception area. This will be returned to you once you have paid the tourist tax or on your departure. At campsites Playa Brava, Bijela Uvala, Zelena Laguna, Lanterna Premium Camping Resort, Bi-Village and Park Umag you pay the tourist tax and registration fee with booking. Tip: many campsites accept a Camping Card instead of a passport.

What is the difference between a Next-door guarantee and a Preferred-pitch?

For € 30 per accommodation, you are guaranteed of being located next-door to your friends or family (max. of 3 accommodations, same accommodation, same holiday period). “Next-door” also includes being located “opposite each other”, “back-to-back” or “diagonally
opposite each other”.  You don't choose your own place, our campsite representatives will do it for you.

Do you want the best place on the campsite? By choosing for our Preferred-pitch you will be assured of the best pitch of your choice. Are you going on holiday together and want to stand next to each other? Then find the best places next to each other together! The Roan Preferred-pitch can be booked until 1st of March 2021 and you only pay €50 for your selected pitch on our campsites.

A combination of the Preferred-pitch and the Next-door Guarantee is not possible.

Why do I have to pay €10,- SGR participation fee?

From 1 February 2021, the SGR Guarantee Fund will introduce a participation fee of € 10 per booking. This amount will be charged to the traveller by Roan Camping Holidays and transferred to the SGR Guarantee Fund.

Roan Camping Holidays is affiliated with SGR (travel guarantee fund). We do this in order to offer you, as a customer, protection. Should Roan run into financial problems, you will always receive your payment back via the SGR.

The own SGR contribution was abolished in 1999. At that time, the SGR had built up sufficient resources to pay out clients who had suffered losses in the event of any bankruptcies of travel organisations. As a result of Covid-19, the SGR expects more companies to apply for financial insolvency in the future and in order to ensure that the guarantee obligation can be met, this levy will be reintroduced.

Which extras can I add to my booking?

We thought about everything with Roan!  You can book the following essentials: stroller, cot, pull-along wagon, highchair, beachtowels, towels, your pet, the next-door guarantee and the pitch-guarantee.

What is the difference between a (RO) bungalow tent and a (GO) bungalow tent?

The (GO) bungalow tent is the accommodation offered by our sister organisation, Go4Camp. This accommodation provides the same service and quality that you always get from Roan. Apart from the colour, there is no difference between these accommodations!

About your existing booking

Can I change my booking?

You can always change your booking. In some cases, there may be additional costs.

There are not any extra costs for:

  • additional people
  • additional extras
  • additional nights
  • additional insurances

Of course, you do pay extra costs for the extra number of people, extras, etc. When you change your booking, we use prices that applied at the initial booking date. There aren’t any surcharges if, after 1 April, the booking is changed to another period, provided that the total amount remains the same. If the total amount is lower, we do not adjust the initial travel sum.

Roan has the right to change prices. Our prices may vary daily.

If you wish to deduct from your booking a certain number of nights (or previously booked extras or people), this is considered a partial cancellation. Cancellation fees will be charged on the price difference.

When do I have to pay the deposit?

With Roan, if you book before 28 February, your deposit is only €99 or £99. After this date, the deposit is of 30% of your travel sum. The remaining amount is due 8 weeks before arrival. For guests arriving in the months of March to June, the remaining amount is due 4 weeks prior to arrival. So book your next camping holiday at these very interesting booking terms now.

If you book within 8 weeks of your arrival, then the total amount has to be paid at once. You do not receive giro collection slips, but you can pay by bank transfer, Mastercard, or VISA. By logging in to 'My Roan' you can easily choose which payment method you would like to use.

Can I invoke the right of withdrawal?

The right of withdrawal does not apply to all services of Roan Camping Holidays. Services relating to accommodation to be provided on a specific date or during a specific period are excluded from the right of withdrawal. However, we do have a cancellation scheme. For more information about cancellations, see https://www.roan.eu/frequently-asked-questions under "Can I cancel my booking (partially)?''

When do I receive my travel documents?

After we have received your payment in full, we will send you the travel documents by e-mail (starting 1 March), 14 days prior to the start of your holiday. Those travel documents include your vouchers, information about the campsite and your accommodation.

Does Roan apply flexible pricing and what does this mean for my booking?

We monitor our prices daily and adjust them if necessary. It is therefore possible that the trip you saw yesterday has become cheaper or more expensive today. We apply the price of the moment you book your holiday. We will never charge you a higher price afterwards. If the price goes down on the other hand, we will not adjust your booking either. After all, at the time of booking you agreed to our conditions and the price at that time.

Till when can I still book extras?

Basically you can still book for extras till the day of departure (provided that it’s available).

Can I find all my bookings in 'My Roan'?

All bookings made in previous years can also be found in your own Roan account.

When you have subsequently booked 2 or more reservations, for example when you combine two campings or go when you are going on holiday with several families at the same time, you will unfortunately only see the 1st booking. We are aware of this technical defect.

Can I cancel my booking (partially)?

You can cancel your booking free of charge until April 1st 2021. Your deposit must be paid prior to the date stated on your confirmation. However, it will be refunded to your account if you cancel before April 1st 2021. If you cancel after this date, you are required to pay cancellation fees (see Travel Conditions). If you decide to cancel part of your booking, you will have to pay a cancellation fee for the nights you cancel. N.B.: It is not always possible to lengthen or shorten your holiday. However, if you do so, you may be charged a cancellation fee since we strive to ensure that our accommodations are occupied at all times. If you have to cancel the entire trip, we would like to ask you to inform us in writing. You can send an email with your details.

COVID-19

What do you mean by a negative travel advice?

A negative travel advice means that the country of your destination does not allow tourists or that your home country advises against travelling to that destination.

If you cannot reach your destination because you need to travel through a country that does not allow tourists, this is also a valid reason. If you are allowed to travel through that country, it is not a valid reason. In the above cases, you can either change your holiday to another destination or receive a refund.

Can I go on holiday with Roan if I have not been vaccinated?

At the moment, it is not clear whether countries can refuse tourists if they do not have a vaccination certificate and whether this will actually be implemented. As soon as more information is available, we will be able to take a stand on this. If it turns out that a vaccination passport is introduced and you can only travel if you have been vaccinated and a negative PCR test is shown to be insufficient, we offer you the option of changing your holiday to 2022. If it turns out that you can travel by showing a negative PCR test, this is not a valid reason for cancelling your holiday free of charge.

I do not want to go on holiday if a 10-day quarantine is required at my destination or when I get home.

If the government of your home country or the country of your destination requires a 10-day quarantine on arrival, this is a negative travel advice which means that the advice of the government is not to travel to that destination. In the event of a negative travel advice, you can change or cancel your holiday free of charge.

Can I cancel my trip free of charge if I am required to quarantine?

In case you are not diagnosed, but have been in contact with an infected person and are therefore required to quarantine, it is not a valid reason for cancelling your holiday free of charge. Of course, we are happy to find a solution together, such as rescheduling your holiday perhaps. Please, contact us as soon as possible so that we can assist you.

I cannot travel because one of my travel companions or I was diagnosed with Covid-19. Will I be covered?

Being diagnosed with Covid-19 is a valid reason to get the cancellation fee covered by most insurance companies. In order to avoid all risk, make sure to take out cancellation insurance and check the terms & conditions.

You can take out a cancellation insurance with Roan, where a Covid-19 infection is a valid reason to cancel your trip. A cancellation insurance should be taken out within 7 days after reservation. Our travel specialists will be happy to inform you.

When will I be notified that my holiday is cancelled due to a negative travel advice?

We will contact you one week before arrival if it appears that a negative travel advice is still valid for your holiday destination.

Do you offer compensation if not all facilities are open?

No, you will not receive any compensation if some facilities are not open due to Covid-19.

Can I cancel without cost if I have to show a negative PCR test at my destination?

If your holiday destination requires a negative PCR test, this is not a valid reason for cancelling your holiday without cost. The cost of the PCR test is borne by the holidaymaker.

Can I postpone my holiday until 2022?

Unfortunately, postponing your holiday until 2022 is not possible. Your holiday needs to take place in 2021. Did you know that some campsites in Italy, France and the Netherlands are even open during autumn break?

Is camping a safe way to spend your holiday?

Yes, it is. You spend a lot of time outdoors when camping, and we have established guidelines for our staff regarding cleaning and safety. We use protective and disinfecting materials. In addition, our staff will always keep a safe distance.

Does the Coronavirus affect my booking?

We are keeping a close eye on developments associated with the spread of Coronavirus worldwide. Click here for more information about the Coronavirus.

Can I travel through countries that still have code orange or go on holiday there?

It is possible to travel through and to countries that have code orange, but please check your travel insurance if you are insured in case you unexpectedly end up in hospital during your trip or vacation.

Suppose I'm on holiday abroad and the travel advice goes from code yellow to orange and a lockdown has been announced?

If you are on holiday by car, you should make sure that you travel home again at that time. In that case you have a big advantage that you have your own transport. If you travel by plane, you will have to make sure that you get back home in any way you want. Roan Camping Holidays does not give a refund if it appears that your holiday has to be interrupted in the meantime. We advise you to check your insurance to see if you are covered by code orange.

Measures at the camping

Given the current situation in which we find ourselves, we would like to draw your attention here to a number of measures that have been taken that contribute to the safety of everyone.

Where can I check the latest status of the travel advice issued for a particular destination?

We advise you to keep an eye on the website of Foreign Affairs:

England: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-tra...
Ireland: https://www.dfa.ie/travel/trav...

Cashless payments

We ask you to pay the deposit and/or tourist tax as much as possible cashless. At most campsites you can pay by a payment request sent by our couriers to you by sms or email. Do you still want to pay cash? Then there is for example an envelope in which you can put the amount.

What additional measures, such as wearing face masks, can I expect during my holiday?

The rules and measures vary from country to country and are also subject to change. Please, check the website of your government for the actual situation. Check here for the UK. Additional rules and measures at your holiday destination are not a valid reason to cancel without cost.

If I am not sure about going on holiday, can I cancel without cost?

You have the opportunity to change or cancel your holiday free of charge until April 1st (this does not apply to holidays that were rebooked from 2020). If you decide to cancel after April 1st, regular cancellation conditions apply. If you are not sure about going on holiday to the destination you booked, you may always change the destination. You pay the difference if it is more expensive. You will not be refunded if it is cheaper.

I do not want to go on holiday if I have not yet been vaccinated. Is that a valid reason to cancel without cost?

This is not a valid reason for cancellation. You have the opportunity to change or cancel your holiday without cost until April 1st (this does not apply to holidays that were rebooked from 2020). If you decide to cancel after April 1st, regular cancellation conditions apply. However, you may always change the destination. You pay the difference if it is more expensive. You will not be refunded if it is cheaper.

I would like to redeem my Corona voucher. How does this work?

You can make a new booking via our website. In step 3 of the booking flow you can log in, the booking system recognises your customer details and then you can choose your voucher as a payment option. Of course we can always process the voucher manually for you. Are you booking from the United Kingdom? Please contact our Call Centre to redeem your voucher.

The voucher is valid for one year from the time of issue and can be used for all trips from the Roan Camping Holiday and Go4camp offer. If you received the voucher on the 1st of April, you have until the 1st of April 2021 to book a new holiday arriving in the year 2020 or 2021.

I am waiting to get the vaccine. What if I get contacted during my holiday?

We can imagine that you would like to be in your home country so that you do not miss out on the vaccination. This is not a valid reason for cancelling your holiday without cost, but we will be happy to change your holiday to another date in 2021. Our travel specialists will be happy to assist you.

If a vaccination passport is actually introduced and I have not had the vaccine yet, is that a valid reason for cancelling without charge?

If it turns out that a vaccination passport will be introduced and you can only travel if you have been vaccinated and a negative PCR test is not sufficient, we will offer you the option of changing your holiday to 2022. If it turns out that you can travel by showing a negative PCR test, this is not a valid reason for cancelling your holiday free of charge.
