In 1986, our adventure began in sunny France. We started out our business from a house in Eerbeek and began with just a few simple tents. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2026 by looking back with pride on how that small-scale family initiative had grown into a trusted name at over 110 top campsites in seven European countries.
A lot has changed in four decades. We have exchanged the white plastic garden furniture of the past for wooden decking with iconic, high-quality lounge sofas. To guarantee our guests the ultimate outdoor living experience, we continuously renovate our accommodations and continue to go the extra mile, for example, by adding complete outdoor kitchens.
However, what has remained unchanged during all these years is our reliable promise to you: together with Maud, our Director, we ensure that we are constantly maintaining our high standards every day, so that you will immediately relax and feel at home from the moment you arrive.
We are true campers in heart and soul. That is why we select our campsites with the same meticulous care and attention we pay when booking our own holidays. We search all over Europe for places that have just that little bit extra to offer. Whether we opt for a large family campsite with a spectacular water park where the teenagers can entertain themselves all day, or a small, quiet spot in rural countryside, we make sure that there is a place for every family where they will feel at home.
Of course, a holiday begins long before you pack your bags; it starts at home on the couch with a hefty dose of anticipation. That is what Ivo and his entire Marketing Team take care of. They are always searching for the best local tips, finest photos and honest stories from our guests. Through our website, newsletters, blogs and social media, they bring that warm and friendly 'Roan feeling' directly into your living room. For them, the best result is not a slick campaign, but instead a photo of your family, smiling at breakfast under the warm Italian or French sun.
Once you have found that perfect campsite, obviously you would want to be able to sleep soundly and trust implicitly in the quality of your accommodation. What do you really need to be able to relax?
With our years of expertise, the Operations Team, led by Bart, prepare our accommodations with the utmost care. We select the very best pitches on the campsite. We also equip our accommodations with air conditioning for warm nights and often include a dishwasher because we understand that no one wants to do the dishes while on holiday! We have also added a spacious lounge sofa on the decking. We specifically decided to include this luxury sofa because our own camping experience has taught us just how important it is to be able to sit outside comfortably until the late hours.

On the campsite itself, our hosts really make a difference. At other campsites, you may find yourself left to your own devices on arrival. However, at our campsites, our own Roan hosts are there to greet you and assist you in any way they can. Our hosts are carefully selected and trained in the field of hospitality by Debbie and her HR Team. After a long journey, our friendly and enthusiastic hosts are there to greet you with a refreshing cold drink. Thanks to their local expertise, they not only ensure that your accommodation is spotlessly clean, but they also share their reliable, personal tips on that one fantastic little restaurant.
