40 years of Roan Luxury Camping Holidays
Forty years ago, in 1986, our adventure under the French sun began with a few simple tents. Now, in 2026, we are proud to celebrate our 40th anniversary! A lot has changed in four decades, but our vision is still exactly the same: we want you to feel at home from the moment you arrive.
Roan through the years: From tent to luxury lounge
What once started as a small-scale family initiative has grown into a trusted name of 118 top campsites in seven European countries. We have traded the white plastic garden furniture of yesteryear for wooden decking and high-quality lounge sofas. In this anniversary year of 2026, we are taking it a step further with the introduction of outdoor kitchens, for the ultimate in outdoor living.
Our growth at a glance:
- 1986: Established Roan Comfort Camp from home in Eerbeek, started 5 campsites in France.
- 1992: First mobile homes purchased, first campsite in Italy contracted.
- 2000: Launch of the website roan.nl
- 2003: Introduction of the wooden decking to our mobile home.
- 2010: The first 3 bedroom mobile homes are installed.
- 2015: Launch of the mobile home 'Supreme' and introduction of the iconic luxury lounge sofas.
- 2020: Roan offer expanded to more than 100 campsites.
- 2024: First camping holidays in winter at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel.
- 2025: Introduction of the first 4-bedroom mobile home including tipi tent.
- 2026: Introduction of outdoor kitchens for ultimate outdoor living.
